Same me, new intentions.

Happy New Year! Welcome 2022!

I celebrated the new year by watching the praise party hosted by Elevation Church. Their word for this year is “better” and I’m excited to see exactly that in 2022. I’m really grateful for all the trials & victories of 2021 because I feel like they have only made me stronger. The words that come to mind are emotionally agile. Susan David defines emotionally agility as:

An individual’s ability to experience their thoughts and emotions and events in a way that doesn’t drive them in negative ways, but instead encourages them to reveal the best of themselves

I think this is exactly how I’m feeling walking out of 2021 and into 2022. Thank you God.

I asked my coworkers today if she had any new years resolutions & she said, “same me, new intentions”. I thought that was really inspiring. Choosing to appreciate and embrace the things that are already working and the things you already love about who you are. For my New Years goal setting I used Jari Roomer’s method and focused on how to maximize the things in my life that already bring me joy & value as well as be intentional about lessening the things that don’t. I’m really excited about what’s up ahead. Here are a couple of my positive habits that I plan to continue and some negative habits I plan to be mindful of in 2022:

Positive Habits

  • Yoga at least 2x a week
  • Dancing every single day
  • Journaling
  • Budgeting, saving, and giving
  • Connecting with the people in my life
  • Allowing God to be the center of my life

Negative Habits

  • Excessive sugar consumption
  • Obsessive/maladaptive planning
  • Being someone that I’m not

Here’s to better in 2022. 🥂
